A chance call to Dartford Karting (south east
Tony Kart distributor) led to a bizarre coincidence. Asking if they had any
second hand Tony Kart Venox chassis' they replied no but they had a customer
who had one. Strangely it turned out to be Tim Drysdale, a chap Toby had met
in Cannes in a bar after a conference. His son Harry drives in Minimax and
was getting a new chassis for 2004. A few minutes later the chassis was bought
(unseen!) and an arrangement to get it delivered kindly thrown in too. Thanks
Tim!
jFirst impressions were that it would be perfect and second impressions were
that it was far to good for us and we'd somehow manage to make it look a mess
by the end of the first race.
So, kart 24 is no more having been stripped to provide a complete spares package
for kart 78 (an identical Tony kart Extreme). The engine from 78 has gone
onto the new Venox as it was a known quantity having performed well in the
last meetings and kart 78 fitted with the best of the rest of the parts.
The Venox is now ready to go and will hopefully make its debut at Rye House
next week. Fingers Crossed!
