Just a quick update to document the repairs to kart 24.

A free Saturday brought on a guilt trip about not having repaired our sick kart from its last outing. With the part having been ordered from Strawberry Racing (www.strawberryracing.co.uk) and delivered promptly the business of fixing up the damage began. Or at least the business of having lunch in a pub began and then much happier about the propect of spending a day in the garage seemed much more palatable.

So, on went:
- bolt for the accelerator pedal to replace the bent original (surely Paul should have been braking at this point?)
- steering column
- track rod
- king pin bolts

The tracking was set to 0 degrees using a broom handle and some elemental maths ("Does that look ok?", "Yep, that should do it")

The lack of revs and the back fire 1/2 way down the straight was a mystery but a bit of investigation on the www.karting.co.uk forums resulted in a few things to check mainly centering around the mixture being to weak. So, in no particular order the following changes have been made:

- air filter washed in petrol, dried and lightly re-oiled
- needle raised by one notch
- carb cleaned and checked
- fuel pump cleaned, checked and relocated to the side of the seat to reduce the length of pipe to the crank case.

We still need to replace the exhaust wadding/baffle pipe and clean the power valve bellows but we're hoping for great things!

The next race is on 24 May but we'll probably use the other kart after its fine showing last time.....
